The process

STEP 1 – Choose one of the programs

Choose the appropriate 6th year schedule and one of the 4 programs in it. Please note that you must follow one program, programs can not be mixed.

Options
Completing the practice in Hungary:

a) at Semmelweis University:
STEP 2
Register for the course at the chosen department in Neptun.
STEP 3
Fill out the Student agreement for internships performed at Semmelweis University (pdf)
Important! Some departments may have their special form, please check the website of the corresponding institution for the right information.
STEP 4
On the last day of your practice, ask the clinic to fill out the Certificate. Download the appropriate certificate, get it filled out at the chosen institution, and submit it to the relevant Department of Semmelweis University immediately after completing the internship.
Please collect the certificate at the end of your practice and bring it to the exam.
Separate certificate must be filled for each specialty (e.g. one for Surgery, one for Traumatology, etc.).

b) in other Hungarian Institution:

Same process as in “2) Doing the practice abroad”.

Completing the practice abroad:

STEP 2
a) choose an approved institution

Please refer to the list of approved health institutions (note the expiry date as well):

Comment: The Family Medicine in Daily Practice rotatory week should be accomplished in a primary care setting with a General Practitioner as tutor.

b) or get another institution approved

Before initiating the approval of a new institution, please note that,
rotations can be done only at University Hospitals or Teaching Hospitals in EU countries.

STEP 3
Download the “Letter of Acceptance”.
The “Letter of acceptance” must be presented at and signed by the competent department of Semmelweis University prior to any practice to be done at an external institution. The validated document should be handed in at the Directorate of International Studies one month before the beginning of the rotation.
The earlier used document named General information for authorization of a department for 6th year rotations is part of the Letter of acceptance now.

STEP 4

STEP 5

ALUMNI

Register to Semmelweis ALUMNI through:

TUITION FEE

Whether the tuition for one or two semesters is to be paid depends on the number of weeks that the registered courses take. If the registered courses take no more weeks than half of year 6, one semester’s tuition fee is requested. If the number of weeks of the registered courses exceeds half of year 6, a full year’s tuition fee is requested. As the overall year 6 consists of 44 weeks, one semester’s tuition fee covers up to 22 weeks of registered courses, while courses of 23 weeks or more require a full year’s tuition fee.

Below is the weekly allocation of specific subjects:

  • Neurology 3 weeks

  • Traumatology (rotation) 1 week
  • Vascular surgery 1 week
  • Basics of Transfusion Medicine 1 week
  • Prehospital Emergency Medicine 2 weeks
  • Psychiatry 3 weeks
  • Internal Medicine 6 weeks
  • Family Medicine in Daily Practice 1 week
  • Infectology (rotation) 1 week
  • Six-week Facultative course 6 weeks
  • Complementary elective internship practice 5 weeks
