Compulsory practice I., II. – for 5th year students

- Please note that only those are eligible to start 5th year and the Compulsory Practice I. who have fulfilled the prerequisites!
Prerequisites for:
a) Compulsory practice I. : Pharmacology and Toxicology III., Pharmaceutical Technology IV., Pharmacy Administration II.
b) Compulsory practice II. : Compulsory practice I. - Subject registration periods:
– (in Fall semester) Compulsory Practice I. – between 14th to 18th July – (in Spring semester) Compulsory Practice II. – spring registration period. - The complete practice period 6 month of practice can be completed by competing weekly 40 hours of work (5*8 hours).
You should complete 1 month in a HOSPITAL/CLINICAL PHARMACY (the location cannot be changed during this time).
You may request exemption from the Hospital/Clinical Pharmacy placement from the Dean, Dr. István Antal (antal.istvan@semmelweis.hu) via email, please also cc. Dr. Mária Hajdú (hajdu.maria@semmelweis.hu) as well in your letter. If the request is supported, then the complete 6-month internship must be completed at a COMMUNITY PHARMACY during Compulsory practice I., II.
The 5-month internship must be completed at a COMMUNITY PHARMACY accredited in Hungary or certified by a higher education institution. The duration of the internship at each of the two locations must not be less than 3 weeks.
- Please note that Compulsory Practice I. shall be completed either in Hungary or at a pharmacy accredited by the Credit Transfer and Education Committee. The pharmacy must be in one of the EU/ECC countries.

The accreditation is valid for 3 years.The accreditation of pharmacy outside of Hungary can be made by filling out the following form: https://semmelweis.hu/gytk/files/2026/03/Szakmai-gyakorlohely-minositese_adatlap_ENG-2026_t.docx, which should be forwarded to the Chairman of Credit Transfer and Education Committee, Dr. Tamás Tábi (tabi.tamas@semmelweis.hu).
