Practices
Traumatology practice shadowing a doctor at the Traumatology Department in either Uzsoki Hospital or Dr. Manninger Jenő Traumatology Center. During the course of the Traumatology practices, students will have the opportunity to learn the following: physical examination of injured patients, bandaging, suturing, casting techniques, and the uses of orthesises and splints, outpatient care, septic complications, physical therapy, and do rounds every morning in the patient wards. Consultation of typical and the more frequent trauma cases, radiologic diagnostics, as well as shadowing, observing and/or assisting in the operating theater are also part of the curriculum. In the ER, students will have an opportunity to examine and participate in the trauma care of patients under supervision. Students will spend 8 hours/day at the Trauma care center and one 24 hour on duty shift.
Occupational health examination certificate is obligatory in order to begin your practice in Hungary.
Duration of the practice
- 40 hours/week – new curriculum
- 80 hours/2 weeks – old curriculum
Hours of absence
- Max. 10 hours /week (new curriculum)
- Max. 20 hours /2 weeks(old curriculum)
is allowed if the student can provide documents of medical treatment.
This absence needed to be made up at a later time which is convenient for the tutor. Absence of more than 10/20 hours cannot be made up and we cannot accept the practice for the student.

Registration and institutional login
- Registration for Traumatology practice at Dr. Manninger Jenő Traumatology Center (Neptun code: Trau) or Uzsoki Hospital (Neptun code: Uzsoki) can be done
- through the Neptun system (during the registration week), where students can register for the location and time period of practices, NOT through email nor personally at these departments.
- Students can only sign up for announced and available practice time periods
(We cannot allow any personal variations to this schedule due to the strict timetable of the other languages of the 6th years study).
- Registration for abroad can be done through the Neptun system during the registration week (Neptun code: Abroad)

Starting time: 07:30 (Please be punctual, as arriving late will be disturbing for the morning conference.)
Before practice
- Students must electronically (trauma_office@med.semmelweis-univ.hu) present the following documentation to the department in order to be allowed to start your practice. It is needed to send at the latest, by the previous Friday until noon:

During practice
- In order to begin your practice, the institution requires the following from you:
- student ID
- face mask
- white cloak/scrubs
- Students will need to fill out their own Attendance sheet & Syllabus (pdf) during the course of the practice
Those will be signed by their tutor on the final day of the practice (signature and stamp is required on both documents). Syllabus is needed to be filled min. 80%.
After practice
- Attendance sheet and syllabus needed to be sent to the Traumatology Department’s secretariate through email (trauma_office@med.semmelweis-univ.hu), in order to receive the signature in Neptun and for acceptance of the practice.
- Deadline: minimum 3 workdays prior to the Traumatology final exam.

Before and During practice

- On the first day of the practice the hospital give you to fill:
- Student Agreemant
- Attandance Sheet and Syllabus
- Students will need to fill out their own Attandance Sheet and Syllabus during the course of the practice.
Those will be signed by their tutor on the final day of the practice (signature and stamp is required on both documents). Syllabus is needed to be filled min. 80%.
