Internal Medicine practice – 3rd year
(4-week long summer practice)
The process
STEP 1 – Be informed
Please read the Dean’s resolution: Information on the completion of practice periods abroad(pdf).
Collect information about the attainable skills during the internship:

| Internal Medicine | Cognition of the department of internal medicine, and the hospital. |
| Internal Medicine | Examination of patients, especially physical examination, and the examination of patients suffering cardiovascular and respiratory diseases. |
| Internal Medicine | Attendance of patients as an assistant physician assigned by the Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, under the supervision of the Head of Department, on the level of a 3rd year student without any pharmacology training. |
| Internal Medicine | Practice of the most important medical interventions. |
| Internal Medicine | Dosage of medicines. (Methods) |
| Internal Medicine | Examining the pulse, blood pressure measurement, body temperature measurement, weight-measurement, height-measurement. |
| Internal Medicine | Technique of cupping, learning and applying of injecting (i.m., i.v., s.c. insulin). |
| Internal Medicine | Knowledge of instruments (ECG, Doppler and/or oscillometry, monitors, supply of oxygen - according to the local possibilities.) |
| Internal Medicine | Compilation of infusion and the technique of infusion wiring (under supervision). Transfusions (under supervision). |
| Internal Medicine | Cognition of the patient documentation. and independent documenting. |
| Internal Medicine | Learning of contacting patients and their relatives, especially informing patients and the medical confidentiality. |
| Internal Medicine | Practising the so-called small laboratory tests. |
| Internal Medicine | Participation in medical consultation, especially if it is about their patient. |
| Internal Medicine | Participation in the meetings of the institution. |
| Internal Medicine | On-call service. |
Options
Completing the practice at Semmelweis University:
STEP 2
Register for the course at the chosen department in Neptun.
STEP 3
Fill out the Student agreement for internships performed at Semmelweis University (pdf).
STEP 4
