Dental Assistance & Dental Laboratory Summer Practice

Please note that both summer practices must be completed before you are allowed to register for any second year subjects.

After the deadlines, there is no way to modify your application and registration except in special cases and by the evaluation of the Study and Examination Committee. You can view the official Regulations of the system of summer internships here.

Dental Assistance (2 weeks):

At Semmelweis University clinics

By default, all students are considered to do their summer practice with one of the Semmelweis University clinics, organised by the Department of General Dental Preclinical Practice.

No paperwork is needed for application, merely registering for the available courses during the summer practice registration period.
One theoretial and one practical course has to be chosen to complete registration.

Abroad or in Hungary, at a non-Semmelweis affiliated clinic

To be able to complete your practice abroad, you need to submit an official request according to the following:

STEP 1
Fill out the main request form. (pdf)
STEP 2
Have the Letter of Acceptance (pdf) filled out by the clinic of your choice. The document should include the name of the practice/clinic and the exact address.
STEP 3
Submit the main request form and the Letter of Acceptance to the Directorate of International Studies by the deadline.
STEP 4
Wait for the decision of the Study and Examination Committee.
STEP 5
Submit the physical original version of your letter of acceptance (mentioned in step 2) to the directorate by the deadline, if not already done so in Step 3.
Please note that in the absence of this, your previously granted request will be revoked.
STEP 6
Register for the “abroad” course in the Neptun system during the summer practice registration period.
STEP 7
On the last day of your practice, ask the clinic to fill out the Certificate of Completion (pdf) and submit it to the Directorate of International Studies until the last day of the registration period for the next semester.

At Semmelweis University clinics

No paperwork is needed for application, merely registering for the available courses during the summer practice registration period.

Abroad or in Hungary, at a non-Semmelweis affiliated clinic

To be able to complete your practice abroad, you need to submit an official request according to the following:

Step 1
Fill out the main request form. (pdf)
Step 2
Have the Letter of Acceptance (pdf) filled out by the clinic of your choice. The document should include the name of the practice/clinic, the exact address, and proof should be attached that the location functions as a working dental laboratory.
Step 3
Submit the main request form and the Letter of Acceptance to the Directorate of International Studies by the deadline.
Step 4
Wait for the opinion of the Department responsible for teaching the subject. If the department does not find your place of practice suitable, they can ask you to submit necessary documents or a new letter of acceptance filled out by a different, suitable clinic.

You will only receive a notice if your documents are not in order.

Step 5
Wait for the decision of the Study and Examination Committee.

You will receive the decision by Neptun message and you will also receive an official decree afterwards.

Step 6
Submit the physical original version of your letter of acceptance (mentioned in step 2) to the directorate by the deadline, if not already done so for Step 3.

Please note that in the absence of this, your previously granted request will be revoked.

Step 7
Register for the “abroad” course in the Neptun system during the summer practice registration period.
Step 8
On the last day of your practice, ask the clinic to fill out the Certificate of Completion (pdf) and submit the orginal version (in person) to the Directorate of International Studies until the last day of the registration period for the next semester.
