Introduction to Hungarian culture / experience program
International students can participate in unique cultural programs for free while earning credit points!
What is the course about?
The aim of the course is to bring Hungarian culture, history, and traditions closer to international students through direct exposure and personal experience.
The course is open to all Semmelweis students with an active status in any faculty or year of the English or German program.
Available options:
- Semmelweis Museum of Medical History – discover the history of Hungarian medicine
- A guided tour of historic cafés in the city center – a walk, stories, and tastings in Budapest
- Visit to the Unicum Museum – guided tour with tasting (in the spirit of moderate consumption)
- House of Music Hungary – the history of music from ancient rhythms to the modern age, in an interactive format
- Uránia National Film Theatre – two highly acclaimed Hungarian movies at an iconic venue
- A performance by the Semmelweis Choir or the Medicus Orchestra – a musical experience you will never forget
How does it work?
- Register for the course in the NEPTUN system
Subject code and course name for the English program:
SEANTBMK_1A Introduction to Hungarian culture / experience program
- Select the preferred programs from the email received and sign up for them according to the schedule provided
- Attend at least 3 experience programs
- Confirm attendance using the QR code provided at the venues
- At the end of the semester, write a short report about the experiences (a minimum of 3400 characters, and up to one A4 page in length)
- Collect course credit — including an experience you will remember for a lifetime!
The registration for the course starts on 1 September 2025 at 10 a.m. for all faculties and years.
Please note that the number of available places is limited!
After the course registration deadline, students can apply for the programs in the program table received by email between September and November 2025.
