The manual entitled “Pathological and Molecular OncoDiagnostic Methods” edited by Dr. Tibor Krenács, research professor of the 1st Department of Pathology and Experimental Cancer Research, Dr. Csaba Bödör, senior research fellow and Dr. András Matolcsy, department head, was published this summer.

The manual provides opportunity for the representatives of other professions as well to gain insight into the possibilities and requirements offered by pathology. As it is indicated in the sub-title of the manual, the aim of the department head and his colleagues of Semmelweis University’s 1st Department of Pathology and Experimental Cancer Research was to provide useful and future-proof information about the complex area of oncopathology to assistants, laboratory analysts, biologists, bioinformaticians, researchers, pathology residents, experienced medical professionals and all the interested professionals.

The manual, which was published by Medicina Book Publishing Company, discusses the basis of the methodology and functioning of modern pathology and oncodiagnostics systematically, built on the professional values of the past, by approaching the topic from the point of view of methodology.

Several innovative methods are being dealt with in the manual, such as parallel molecular multi-labeling and automated technologies of image analysis requiring artificial intelligence. These might be applied in the future not only in research, but in the area of diagnostics as well.
