It is for the third time that the Summer University is organized by Semmelweis University in the framework of its 250th anniversary program series. The Summer University is waiting for those interested with diverse programs. Participation in the presentations is free for Semmelweis University students, however, a pre-registration is required.
The Summer University, which will be held on 2-3 September, will prepare students for the new academic year with a variety of presentations, mainly focusing on the topics of university innovative research, public life and sports. Among others, the importance of science communication, the role of talent management, the Stipendium Hungaricum program and the recent model change, as well as the post-COVID syndrome, which is especially relevant today, will be discussed. Those who are interested in more casual topics, may also find a program for themselves: Kristóf Rasovszky,a long-distance swimmer and winner of an Olympic silver medal as well as Krisztián Manhercz, a water polo player, winner of an Olympic bronze medal will be the guests of Dr. Béla Merkely, Rector. Dr. Péter Hermann, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs will talk to the Olympic champion short track speed skater Liu brothers and the heroes of the Tokyo Olympic Games, the Lőrincz brothers.
“When preparing for the programs of the event, the aim was to enable the participating students to expand their extracurricular knowledge during the presentations”, said Dr. Tamás Hegedűs, Director of the Directorate of Alumni Affairs.
He added that the main patrons of this year’s Summer University are Dr. Béla Merkely, Rector and Dr. Péter Hermann, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs.
The Summer University is open and free to all students, but is subject to pre-registration. Registration has already started, students may apply for the programs via the Neptun system. Participation is also worth a credit point: students are able to prove their attendance by scanning a QR code. The event will be held at the Basic Medical Science Center. Due to the great interest, participants will also be able to follow the presentations held at the Szent-Györgyi Lecture Hall online as well on screens located at several other lecture halls in the building.
