Following traditions, the Graduation Ball was organized at the Nagyvárad tér Theoretical Building this year as well, which was attended by nearly 200 participants. Graduating students were greeted by Dr. Béla Merkely, Rector.

“This occasion today is about happiness, since you all have passed your state examination successfully and most of you have already been conferred upon your degree. Roots and wings, as Goethe said, are the most that the university could give you”, Dr. Béla Merkely highlighted in his speech.

As the Rector pointed out, these roots connect graduated students to Semmelweis University, also to its 250 years of tradition and alumni. The wings give freedom, opportunities and the desire to learn, which students may use to go abroad, but will hopefully find their way back home and settle down close to the roots.
