Semmelweis University has moved up 31 places in the Times Higher Education (THE) rankings. The university remains one of the top 500 higher education institutions in the world, ranking first among Hungarian institutions.

Semmelweis University is ranked 401-500 ranking in the latest Times Higher Education World University Ranking. Within this range, it has advanced 31 places, becoming one of the fifty universities which have improved their results the most in one year. The indicator related to the citation of scientific publications and research increased the most, and the university currently ranks 426th on the list.

Semmelweis University is the best Hungarian university on the list: ELTE and the University of Pécs are ranked 601-800, while the University of Debrecen is ranked 801-1000.

The compilers of the world ranking classify institutions based on five factors: teaching, research, citations, industry income and international outlook.

The top three positions in the world ranking are held by the University of Oxford, Stanford University and Harvard University.
