Semmelweis University became the champion at the 6th Dunai Regatta. The race took place at the quay in front of Budapest University of Technology and Economics with more than 1,000 athletes, representing 18 Hungarian, 2 Polish, 1 Czech and 1 Slovakian higher educational institutes. The University of Physical Education also won the championship in dragon boat and Széchenyi István University from Győr was the champion in rowing.
There were two races in the dragon boat event with 18 Hungarian and 1 Polish teams, one race was won by Semmelweis University and the other one by the University of Physical Education. The greatest rowing race among the universities was the eights event, where the unit of Széchenyi István University (Győr) overtook the rowers of 5 Hungarian, 1 Polish and 1 Czech teams.
Based on the colleagues of the organizer, Antall József Knowledge Center, the significant goal of this event is to strengthen the university cohesion, to fill the River Danube and the quay with life and to draw people’s attention to sporty and healthy lifestyle. 30,000 spectators were cheering the teams from the Chain Bridge and the Parliament to the quay of Budapest University of Technology and Economics. The rowers performed 2,000 meters and the dragon boat teams completed more than 3,000 meters.
