In the framework of a previously signed agreement between sister universities, four administrative colleagues from Tokyo Medical University (TMU) participated in the staff exchange program being held at Semmelweis University between December 4 – December 8, 2017. The one-week long program, of which the main focus was mainly an exchange of professional experience as well as getting familiar with the operation of our university, was organized by the Directorate of International Relations. Dr. Mária Mernyei, a physician living in Japan, has provided a lot of support in the preparations and the realization of this visit.
On the first day of the program, within the framework of a lecture, our Japanese partners had the opportunity to get familiar with the history of our institution, its general organization, as well as its educational, research and health care activities. On this occasion TMU colleagues could ask their questions related to the Faculty of Medicine from Dr. Miklós Molnár, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. As a preparation for the visit, the Japanese partners had sent us a structured questionnaire indicating their areas of interest earlier, which served as the grounds of creating the program agenda. On the basis of this, the delegation of TMU visited the Central Library and the Directorate of Innovation, they had the opportunity to listen to a lecture held at Nagyvárad Tér Theoretical Building, they participated in a short building tour at the Basic Medical Science Centre as well as they received detailed information regarding the activities and operation of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
According to Semmelweis University, this endeavour provides a good basis for the future so that our institution can also organize similar mobility programs focusing on the organizational/institutional culture of partner universities abroad. Staff exchange professional opportunities for administrative colleagues were earlier organized mostly within Europe, in the framework of the Erasmus+ program.
We would like to express our gratitude for those colleagues and heads of departments/institutions/directorates of Semmelweis University, who contributed to the organization of the program.
