The 1st Semmelweis Snow Ball was organized by the Students’ Union of Semmelweis University in partnership with the Association of Medical Students in Budapest. The organizers aim at starting a tradition with this event, which was held at Nagyvárad Tér Theoretical Building, where the gala dinner and live music meant to evoke the atmosphere of classical balls.
“By organizing the 1st Semmelweis Snow Ball the organizers endeavoured to supplement the series of community events such as the Freshmen’s Ball and the Semmelweis Carneval with a traditional type of ball, where live music and gastronomy also receive a role besides the gala programme. It was also our aim to reinforce the relations between the Students’ Union of Semmelweis University, as well as the Association of Medical Students in Budapest.”, highlighted Marcell Budai, President of the Students’ Union.
“The Association of Medical Students in Budapest has been doing caritative work and activities related to prevention for secondary school students for 10 years, and it aims at contributing to medical training. The timing of the event was set on the occasion of this anniversary. It was an important aspect during the preparations for the ball that we provide the audience with colourful cultural programmes. As a result of this, the audience of about 300 participants was entertained among others by the Medic Orchestra and a folk singer, there was a ballet performance, a flute performance and a female choir performance. The 1st Semmelweis Snow Ball was opened by a waltz performed by 20 medical students, which was the result of the work of several weeks.”, expressed József Hajnes, President of the Association of Medical Students in Budapest.
The amount of 150.000 HUF collected from the price of the charity vouchers was offered for the Age of Hope foundation by the organizers. Age of Hope is protecting the rights of children.
