Semmelweis University is the 2nd best higher education institution in Hungary and the 532nd in the world, according to the URAP rankings. The official notification received by the University highlighted that the ranking, compiled by the Turkish Middle East Technical University, examines 2500 higher education institution based solely on their academic performance as measured through objective data obtained from reliable bibliometric sources. First published in 2010, the URAP ranking is based on the quality and quantity of scientific publications, as well as on international research collaborations. Specifically, it examines the number of published articles, the number of citations, the sustainability and continuity of scientific productivity based on all available scholarly literature, the impact factor of those journals in which a university published articles or were cited in, as well as the total number of publications made in collaboration with foreign universities.
