Our colleagues, Dr Zoltán Cserháti, Dr Eszter Kovács and Dr Réka Kovács, actively participated in the second HEROES EU policy dialogue, held in a hybrid format in Brussels on 26 March 2026.
A key message emerged from the event: Europe already has strong frameworks in place to support health workforce policy — the task now is to better connect these with national-level planning.

Tools such as the European Health Data Space, the European Semester, the Joint Questionnaire on Non-Monetary Health Care Statistics, skills development policies, and cooperation mechanisms between Member States provide valuable starting points. Together, they form a solid foundation for informed and coordinated action.
The next step is clear: stronger alignment is needed between EU-level instruments and national planning practices. This would allow health workforce data to better support decision-making on education, retention, distribution, and service delivery.
