The Department of Pulmonology at Semmelweis University has been selected as one of three leading Hungarian pulmonology centers to participate in groundbreaking molecular fingerprinting research for lung cancer diagnostics. This research program is led by the Center for Molecular Fingerprinting (CMF), headed by Dr. Ferenc Krausz, recipient of the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics.

The collaboration, conducted through Semmelweis University’s newly established John von Neumann Institute for Data Science, aims to integrate innovative molecular fingerprinting and profiling techniques into health datasets for early detection of serious chronic conditions. The Department’s participation recognizes its position as a leading pulmonology center in Hungary and demonstrates its commitment to advancing diagnostic capabilities through cutting-edge technology and international collaboration.
