Recently, the manuscript entitled „Association between COVID-19 vaccination and progression to severe outcomes in hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Hungary during the pre-Omicron era of the COVID-19 pandemic” was published in the international journal of Virus Research, co-authored by Professor Veronika Müller. The research examined data on patients hospitalized due to COVID-19 infection between March 2020 and December 2021 and described that both the first and booster vaccinations reduced the risk of mortality, intensive care unit care, and oxygen treatment by more than 50%. The study provides results that fill gaps in data from Central and Eastern Europe and further strengthens the evidence supporting the effectiveness of vaccinations.
