Dr. Zsolt Viktor Göböl, Director-General; Dr. Kristóf András Karlócai, Chief Physician; Dr. Miklós Szendrői, Professor and Dr. Edit Anna Viczián, Physician and Teacher of Semmelweis University received the civil division of the Knight’s Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit. The civil division of the Middle Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit was awarded to Dr. József Mandl, Professor Emeritus and Dr. Ildikó Süveges, Professor Emerita. The recognitions awarded on the occasion of the national holiday on 20 August were handed over by Dr. Miklós Kásler, Minister of Human Resources and Dr. Bence Rétvári, Parliamentary State Secretary on 27 August at the Pesti Vigadó.

The civil division of the Knight’s Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit was awarded to the following physicians of Semmelweis University: Dr. Zsolt Viktor Göböl, Director-General of the Szent Rókus Clinical Block, Rector’s Commissioner, Acting Director of the Department of Minimally Invasive and One-Day Surgery and Outpatient Clinic; Dr. Kristóf András Karlócai, cardiologist, chief physician of the Department of Pulmonology; Dr. Miklós Szendrői, orthopedic surgeon, professor of the Department of Orthopedics as well as Dr. Edit Anna Viczián, general practitioner, teacher of the Department of Family Medicine.

In recognition of their outstanding professional achievements, the civil division of the Middle Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit was awarded to Dr. József Mandl, biochemist, recipient of the Széchenyi Prize and of the Batthyány-Strattmann László Prize, member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, President of the Medical Research Council, Professor Emeritus of the Department of Molecular Biology as well as to Dr. Ildikó Süveges, Doctor of Medicine, Professor Emerita of the Department of Ophthalmology.
