The newly inaugurated Semmelweis Szalon hosted on 6 November 2009 the awards ceremony of the honorary doctorates of our University. The title of Doctor Honoris Causa has been awarded by our university for more than 40 years to renowned professors of excellence for their long-time collaboration with Semmelweis University. This time the honorary doctor certificate was conferred upon the following 12 distinguished professors:

As a special hint of history, the event also marked the 240th anniversary of the foundation of the forerunner of Semmelweis University, the Medical Faculty of the University of Trnava (Nagyszombat) in Slovakia. The Doctor Honoris Causa awards ceremony was honoured with the presence of the delegation of the University of Trnava led by Vice-Rector Andrej Filipek.
