Members of the Hungarian delegation included Dr. Éva Feketéné Szabó, Vice-Rector for Strategy and Development; Dr. Péter Nyirády, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine (ÁOK); Dr. Andrea Zsebe Miklósné Tenk, Dean of the András Pető Faculty (PAK); Dr. Tamás Hegedüs, Head of the Directorate of International Relations and Alumni Affairs; Éva Czékmán, international expert; and Szabolcs Tiger, consultant and international expert.
The event began with opening remarks by Dr. Ferenc Kumin, Ambassador of Hungary to the United Kingdom, after which Dr. Éva Feketéné Szabó gave a speech on behalf of Rector Dr. Béla Merkely. Dr. Péter Nyirády also welcomed the participants. His presentation gave the more than eighty guests an insight into the life of the university’s namesake, Ignác Semmelweis, as well as into the institution’s history, mission, most significant developments, future goals, and international network.
In the closing part of the ceremony, Dr. Andrea Zsebe Miklósné Tenk congratulated two outstanding organizations operating in the United Kingdom – Small Steps and The Rainbow Centre – on being awarded the title of “Designated Institute for Practice,” and then presented them with certificates of recognition in a formal ceremony. In their acceptance speeches, the leaders of the honored institutions recalled their decades-long commitment to conductive education in the United Kingdom and emphasized their intention to further strengthen cooperation with the parent institution in Hungary.
Following the presentations, the focus for the members of the alumni community shifted to networking, reminiscing about shared memories, and exchanging professional experiences. The closing reception provided an opportunity for informal conversations, during which participants were able to further deepen their professional and personal relationships.
