Semmelweis University is expecting thousands to join its Online Open Day on January 23, where prospective international students, their teachers, and parents can learn about the institution’s English-language programs. The event will feature studio discussions, a student-led forum, Q&A sessions, and short films about programs offered at various faculties. Participants can also join an in-person Campus Tour on February 11.

The Semmelweis Online Open Day is the university’s largest promotion event, aimed specifically at those interested in the university’s medical and health sciences programs.

“Every year, the Online Open Day enjoys particular popularity, where both students and parents can easily join in the discussions online, regardless of geographical distance. However, there are some locations that should be visited in person to get a more vivid impression of the university environment,” explained Dr. Péter Hermann, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs. In addition to the Online Open Day held on January 23, the Campus Tour on February 11 will allow smaller groups to take a peek into the community spaces of the faculties, an exciting course, and dorm life.

The streamed content is accessible from outside Hungary as well, featuring English and German sessions, too. The agenda items can also be rewatched later, said Dr. Péter Vámosi, Head of the Directorate of Supporting Services and Student Relations.

Since interactive programs are particularly popular among young people, the speakers will also answer questions during the program. The event will be opened by Rector Dr. Béla Merkely, who will welcome attendees and present the university’s mission. Dr. Alán Alpár, Vice-Rector for International Studies; Balambér Paál, Admissions Officer at the Registrars’ Office; and Anushka Rawat, President of the International Semmelweis Student Association (ISSA), will present medical training programs in a forum discussion. Short films, Q&A sessions, and interactive discussions will be held to present the English-language dental, pharmaceutical, and health sciences training programs. The organizers will place particular emphasis on introducing Budapest and the most important student events, such as the Freshers’ Camp.

Participants are invited to register for the January 23 Online Open Day by January 20, and for the February 11 Campus Tour by February 1, at https://semmelweis.hu/admission/process/open-days/.
