Semmelweis University continues to rank among the best in Medicine and Health, holding its position from last year in the top 250 worldwide according to Times Higher Education’s 2025 World University Rankings by subject. The institution has moved up 26 places from last year to the 206th position, which makes it the leader not only among Hungarian universities but also in the Central and Eastern European region.

The latest World University Rankings by Times Higher Education (THE) list institutions in 11 fields. Semmelweis University is featured in the Medical and Health table, which ranks the best 1,150 higher education institutions from 102 countries. The university maintains its position from last year and is ranked in the top 250, moving up 26 places to the 206th position this year. It has improved in almost all indicators, most notably in its publication and citation performance.

With this achievement, Semmelweis continues to be the highest-ranked Hungarian university in its discipline. The University of Pécs is ranked 401-500th, while the University of Debrecen and the University of Szeged are ranked 501-600th.

Semmelweis is also the leader in the Central and Eastern European region, ahead of Charles University in the Czech Republic, as well as Wroclaw Medical University and Jagiellonian University in Poland.
