More than ever before, around 2,100 participants visited the City Park Ice Rink for the ice carnival held for the 20th time this year. The event, called Semmelweis Ice Carnival, was organized by the University’s Students’ Union and was attended by many international students.

“1,800 students of Semmelweis University and 300 accompanying persons, as well as several university leaders attended the evening skating program at the artificial ice rink,” – Benedek Besenczi, member of the delegate assembly of the Students’ Union (HÖK) and main organizer of the carnival, told our website.

He pointed out that due to pandemic restrictions, the event was not held in 2021, but this was the second time since then. Last year’s event already had an outstanding turnout, but this year they managed to surpass its numbers.

The Students’ Union promoted this year’s event as the Semmelweis Ice Carnival among freshmen and upperclassmen, with all Semmelweis students receiving free admission. According to their totals, one third of the participants were international students.

The students could participate in skating competitions and the traditional carnival costume contest was also held, and the jury also included with VIP guests: Dr. Éva Szabó Feketéné, Dr. Alán Alpár and Dr. Péter Ferdinándy, Vice-Rectors of the University.

At the stand of the Health Development Centre, the students played a scavenger hunt game, and the winners of the raffle and game tasks were given out medical gift packages, sponsorship gifts, tickets to student events and university logo caps.
