“The year 2020 was determined by COVID-19 epidemic in health care, therefore in the life of Semmelweis University as well. The employees of the university’s Clinical Centre were and are continuously taking part in the fight against coronavirus. We aimed at recognizing their exemplary attitude and long-standing conscientious work as we are now approaching Christmas”, said Dr. Attila Szabó, Vice-Rector for Clinical Affairs, President of the Clinical Centre, who handed the award certificates to the COVID-19 patient care department heads in person, together with Dr. József Gajdácsi, Director-General of the Directorate General for Medicine.

Semmelweis University has been taking part in the fight against COVID-19 since the onset of the epidemic – Dr. Attila Szabó highlighted. In spring, primarily the establishment of the screening system as well as the development of a coronavirus-specific patient care system were in the center of the work performed by the organization units. However, in autumn, during the second wave of the epidemic, the workload of the departments has increased significantly: the employees have been actively participating in the fight against coronavirus in a self-sacrificing way for months.
“The award certificate and Christmas presents are just symbolic gestures of the Clinical Centre, yet we considered it very important to be able to thank our colleagues for their hard work personally in these hard times, by of course following the epidemiological safety requirements”, the Vice-Rector for Clinical Affairs said.
