Following the proposal of László Palkovics, Minister of Innovation and Technology, Lívia Pavlik was appointed new chancellor of Semmelweis University. Based on the decision of Prime Minister she will hold office for five years from 1 October 2020 to 30 September 2025.

Lívia Pavlik was chancellor of Corvinus University until 31 August and between 19 April 2019 to 31 March 2021 she is Ministerial Commissioner responsible for the preparing the introduction of innovative and competitive higher education models in Hungary. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán appointed her chancellor of Semmelweis University for five years with effect from 1 October. The proposal was made by László Palkovics, Minister of Innovation and Technology.

Since the resignation of Dr. Károly Szász, former chancellor of Semmelweis University in November 2019, Irén Baumgartnerné Holló, Director General for Economy has been acting as vice-chancellor.
