Information on the new, restricted entry system for employees and patients of Semmelweis University introduced in the interest of the protection of the clinics and departments

Dear Semmelweis Citizens,
Dear Patients,

In the interest of protecting our clinics and departments from people potentially infected with the coronavirus, and in order the reduce the burden on our Emergency Department (SBO) in preparation for the coming period, we are instituting a system of restricted, checkpoint entry to the area of the Inner and Outer Clinical Centers as of Monday, March 23, for both patients and employees. Under this measure, the system of entering the area of the clinical centers and the various patient care units is detailed below.

All the street-level entrances of the INNER CLINICAL CENTER (BKT) and the clinics and departments located on the site will be closed, with the following exceptions as entry points.

Entrance by employees and service vehicles to the area of the BKT:

  • Service vehicles and employees entering by car can use the entry gate from Baross utca (one gate for employees, one for service vehicles). Employees can only enter using their ID badges, while service vehicles can enter following registration (license plate, phone number) and answering screening questions on influenza-like symptoms.

  • Employee and service vehicles can exit through gate at Szentkirályi utca.

  • Employees entering on foot may enter at the building entrances of the clinics and departments and the Central Administrative Building. Entrance to the 2nd Department of Internal Medicine and the Department of Dermatology, Dermatooncology and Venerology is possible through the gate at Baross utca, each time after answering screening questions on influenza-like symptoms.

Entrance by patients to the area of the BKT:

  • Patients arriving without appointments will be able to enter the area by foot only at the entrance from Baross utca, while patients that have appointments will be able to enter at the building entrances of the given departments (for patients of the 2nd Department of Internal Medicine and the Department of Dermatology, Dermatooncology and Venerology, entry is possible through the gate at Baross utca).

  • Patients can only enter by car and without an escort if they have a handicapped parking permit, and dependent on the availability of parking space. If the patient is brought in by escort, parking is possible in the designated area, but only until the patient is handed over to hospital staff.

Entering the area of the BKT by ambulance:

  • Ambulance vehicles can enter at the Baross utca gate, and exit at the Szentkirályi utca gate.

All the street-level entrances of the OUTER CLINICAL CENTER (KKT) and the clinics and departments located on the site will be closed, with the following exceptions as entry points.

Entrance by employees and service vehicles to the area of the KKT:

  • Service vehicles and employees entering by car can enter at gate X (Roman numeral 10) from Korányi Sándor utca (one gate for employees, one for service vehicles). Employees can only enter using their ID badges, while service vehicles can enter following registration (license plate, phone number) and answering screening questions on influenza-like symptoms.

  • Employee and service vehicles can exit through gate I at Szigony utca.

  • Employees entering on foot may enter their workplaces at the building entrances of the clinics and departments, after answering screening questions on influenza-like symptoms. Workers of the Department of Urology can enter at gate X.

Entrance by patients to the area of the KKT:

  • Patients arriving to the Emergency Department (SBO) and those without appointments will be able to enter at the so-called Fire Entrance (“Tűzoltókapu”), located on the corner of Szigony utca and Apáthy utca. Patients arriving for appointments will be able to enter at the building entrances of the given departments (Department of Urology patients at gate X), also in every case after answering screening questions on influenza-like symptoms.

  • Escorts bringing by car patients to the Emergency Department (SBO) and those without appointments can enter at the Fire Entrance (“Tűzoltókapu”) and parking in the designated area, but only until the patient is handed over to hospital staff. Concerning both clinical centers, the prohibition on visitors as announced by Hungary’s Chief Medical Officer on March 8 is in effect, meaning that no patient escorts or attendants can enter, with the exception of fathers-to-be or if the patient has a disability that requires assistance.

I hereby once again ask you to follow the strict entrance protocols and thank you for your cooperation.
