The compilers of the international ranking list take four ranking criteria into consideration: the citation frequency of scientific works related to the institution (citations per paper), the academic reputation of the institution, the employer reputation, and the h-index citations, which measures the citation impact of publications. With regard to h-index citations, the 2019 rankings look at the 2012–2016 period, in the case of citations per paper, the 2012–2017 period was considered, while the results of the past five years of reputation questionnaires were taken into consideration, said Péter Szluka, the director of Semmelweis University’s Central Library.
The now published 2019 QS list provides a ranking of world universities in a total of 48 different subject areas.
