According to the list prepared recently by the Center of World University Rankings (CWUR), Semmelweis University has been ranked as 611st out of the best thousand higher-education institutions in the world. With this result our institution has managed to improve its previous ranking (631). In the list there are altogether 1000 universities, which were selected out of 27 770 higher-education institutions. Among the six Hungarian universities, Semmelweis University has been ranked at the second best place in the list, following Eötvös Loránd University.
The institutions were measured with the consideration of eight aspects including among others the quality of education, career opportunities of graduates, the excellence of teachers, the number of publications, the frequency of the citation of the university’s scientific research works and the number of patents. Semmelweis University had its best results in the categories of the quality of education and the excellence of teachers, which is due to the high number of internationally recognized awards received by the graduates as well as the teachers of the university.
Out of the Hungarian universities, similarly to last year, Eötvös Loránd University was ranked as first (515), Semmelweis University was ranked as second (611), followed by the following rankings: the University of Debrecen (694), the University of Szeged (762), the University of Pécs (885) and Budapest University of Technology and Economics (898). The CWUR world ranking list is led by three American institutions: the first is Harvard University, the second is Stanford University and the third is Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
