The Neptun system at Semmelweis University has received high-performance servers at the beginning of the year, which makes its running smooth and stable and establishes the background for the usage of the mobile application that had already been available earlier. In the framework of the so called HASZNOS Project (aiming at the development of student services) launched in August 2016, a review of the functions and secure use of Neptun mobile application was accomplished by the joint collaboration of the Directorate of Informatics and the Directorate of Communication and Event Management and a decision was made about the introduction of the application. The functions of the Neptun system is available on mobile phones via this application starting from April 4, 2017.
On the basis of a survey carried out about student needs in 2016, one of the priority objectives of students is to be able to have their administrational issues accomplished in Neptun as efficiently as possible via a mobile phone. In the framework of the HASZNOS Project the Directorate of Informatics audited whether the university’s operational background of the mobile application developed by SDA Informatikai Zrt. can be ensured and whether the application has an adequate data security. The Neptun system at Semmelweis University has received high-performance servers at the beginning of the year, therefore the number of logins from various mobile phones cannot cause an overload in the system.
With the help of the Neptun mobile application the most important functions of the student interface such as sending messages, applying for courses, signing off from courses, applying for exams, signing off from exams, making comments in the favourite NMS forums, setting events, setting diary entries and providing feedback to developers will now be available via mobile phones.
The Neptun mobile application can be downloaded for Android phones at the Google Play Store, for iPhones at the Apple App Store and for Windows Phones at the Microsoft App Store.
