Semmelweis University was represented by its five faculties at the three-day long Educatio International Education Expo 2017. Every year more than 20 000 secondary school students visit the expo and inquire about the requirements of entrance examinations, information regarding study material, examination processes and university life. Semmelweis students represented the five faculties at the information desks who answered the secondary school students’ questions, and the organizers even held a resuscitation display as well as they introduced different medical devices to the audience. A brochure was prepared for this occasion, which introduces Semmelweis University, the five faculties and the requirements of the entrance examinations. “I know that students have to learn a lot, but I don’t mind, because becoming a physician is my dream, this is what I would like to do.”, said the 17-year-old Éva from Mór. She personally feels a motivation to cure patients, and she will attend special classes in Biology and Chemistry at school, and besides this she will take private lessons during the summer in order to reach her goal.

Constance, who is currently 16-year-old, is deliberately preparing to become a physician, that is why she moved back home from Germany. She would like to apply for Semmelweis University as the first choice in her list. She is already studying for the entrance examination: she will take high-level final examination in Chemistry and Biology, but she will do her best to be successful in the rest of the subjects as well so that she could have better results. She has not decided yet what type of a physician she would like to become, but she is interested in many things including dermatology and pathology.

Some of the visitors of the expo have already obtained a diploma or currently are studying at a higher education institution. Renáta Lukács for instance is studying English language and literature, but since she is interested in healthy lifestyle, she would like to study dietetics. The 25-year-old Nguyen Van Viet has gained a Bachelor degree at the University of Physical Education, then he spent some years abroad, after which he decided to study dentistry. He had classes related to the human body before, such as anatomy, physiology and genetics, thus he is not afraid of these subjects. He attends a special class in Chemistry in order to have good results at the high level final examination, which is necessary for the entrance examination.

Applicants can send in their application material for the Bachelor programmes and Master programmes via the electronic application system until February 15. According to the information posted on felvi.hu Semmelweis University will be able to enrol altogether 3019 students in the following academic year. During the entrance examination process of 2017 the minimal score limit for the Faculty of Medicine is 380, for the Faculty of Dentistry 390 and for the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences is 385. In general, there are three or four times more applicants applying for the various programmes offered by Semmelweis University than the admittance capacity. According to system measures students graduated from Semmelweis University can find a job usually within 2 months after having finished their studies.
