The body of first-year British medical student Daniel Gliksten (24), missing since the early hours of January 1, has been found. Gliksten’s body washed ashore on the outskirts of Dunaújváros. Homicide has been ruled out as the cause of death, according to the forensic expert.
The circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated by the Fejér County Police Department, stated Fejér County Police Spokesman Mónika Németh-Kész, adding that further information would not be provided by the department on the matter.
The Budapest Police Headquarters had been searching for the missing young man since his disappearance. His mother flew to the Hungarian capital during the search to help with the investigation. As Daniel Gliksten held dual citizenship, the British and Swedish embassies also joined in the search, while his schoolmates launched a search campaign on Facebook.
Semmelweis University and its student associations express their deepest condolences to Daniel Gliksten’s family.
