The 1st Open Forum on Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics was held on May 24, 2011 at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (HAS). Organised by Semmelweis University’s Department of Pharmaceutics in collaboration with the Hungarian Academy of Sciences’s Pharmaceutical Permanent Committee and the Belgian capsule manufacturing company Capsugel, this one-day conference drew participants from 23 countries around the world.
The forum’s presenters included internationally acclaimed experts in the field, such as Dr. Vinod P. Shah, Scientific Secretary of the International Pharmaceutical Federation. Presentations concerned such topics as the importance of supergenerics and their potential role in medical treatment, the potential for patient-centric drug delivery to improve therapeutic outcomes and the use of advanced Quality by Design concepts and tools in the development of generic drugs.
Overall, the 1st Open Forum was a definite success and participant expressed their desire to meet again in the near future to discuss the latest developments in the pharmaceutical field.
