The 13th annual Ph.D. Scientific Days was held on April 14-15, 2011 in the University’s NET building. As in previous years, this two-day conference, which serves as a scientific forum for Semmelweis University’s Ph.D. students, attracted participants from numerous other universities, including the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Târgu Mureş (Romania).
Dr. Károly Rácz, president of the University’s Doctoral Council welcomed the participants, after which Dr. Tivadar Tulassay, rector of Semmelweis University, presented his opening address.
The first part of the scientific programme included lectures by Dr. Zsuzsa Schaff and Professor Gábor Pavlik, both of whom had won the title of “Outstanding Ph.D. Instructor” in 2010.
The newly created Vilma Hugonnai medallion, which recognises the achievements of the University’s young female doctors, instructors and researchers, was also presented as part of the conference. Professor Romána Zelkó (director of the University Pharmacy Department of Pharmacy Administration) and Dr. Veronika Müller (Department of Pulmonology) were honoured as the first recipients of this special distinction.
