A Pulmonary Pathology Workshop was organised at the 1st Department of Pathology and Experimental Cancer Research by Mayo Clinic, USA. The two-day-long event was attended by nearly a hundred pathologists.

“The workshop aimed at the full coverage of the most important areas of differential diagnostics in pulmonology, including the pathology of pulmonary tumours and pulmonary fibrosis.”, said Dr. András Khoor, pathologist at Mayo Clinic and President of the Hungarian Medical Association of America.

Dr. András Matolcsy, Director of the 1st Department of Pathology and Experimental Cancer Research said that the knowledge of surgical pathology is essential for oncologists and pulmonologists to properly treat patients.

“The key to successful patient care is team work, as both knowledge and responsibility need to be shared. This can be achieved through continuing education and by promoting and sharing the know-how”, Dr. András Khoor said about the philosophy of Mayo Clinic.

The workshop organised by the renowned American institution gave an opportunity to pathologists to study diseases that they otherwise would not have access to. At the end of the workshop Dr. András Matolcsy expressed his hopes to host similar events in the future.
