For the first time Semmelweis University is among the top 100 (51-100) higher education institutions in the field of Anatomy and Physiology in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by Subject 2020. Pharmaceutical education was ranked 151-200, and medical education was ranked 201-250. In the field of Life and Medical Sciences, Semmelweis University ranked 295, which is 13 places better compared to last year’s position.
Semmelweis University has the best results among the Hungarian higher education institutions in the list of Life and Medical Sciences: after last year’s 308th position, it was ranked 295th. The list also includes the University of Szeged and the University of Debrecen, the latter ranking 401-450 and the University of Szeged earning a place between 451-500.
This year, Semmelweis University, the only Hungarian higher education institution, was included in the QS rankings by subjects in the field of Anatomy and Physiology for the first time. It occupies a prestigious place of 51-100
Semmelweis University was the only Hungarian institution making it to the list of Pharmacy and Pharmacology education, where it was ranked between 151-200, maintaining its previous position.
In the field of Medicine Semmelweis University was the best among the other Hungarian medical universities maintaining its position of last year between 201-250. The University of Debrecen and the University of Szeged ranked 301-350, while the University of Pécs was ranked 351-400.
The QS international rankings by subjects are made by taking four aspects into consideration: the citation frequency of scientific works associated with the university, the institution’s reputation in the scientific world, employer opinions and the bibliographic indicator referring to citations (h-index citations). Semmelweis University received the highest rating in the field of the citation index. The recently published QS ranking compares universities around the world in 48 different subjects.
