Academy – Advanced Course in Urology, a professional training course organised by the Department of Urology between 7th and 9th July hosted 36 urologists from all around Italy.

Dr. Imre Romics, professor held a lecture on the 200-year-long history of Hungarian urology at the first evening of the training course. The 2-day event was opened by Dr. Péter Nyirády, director. The lectures held by the physicians and researchers of the Department of Urology provided information on the latest methods and principles in the field of urology and andrology.

Besides the theoretical lectures encompassing all areas of urology, the participants had the opportunity to observe several live surgical presentations: percutaneous and mini percutaneous nephrolithotomy (kidney stone removal), transobturator tape (TOT) sling procedure for patients suffering from incontinence, perineal surgery of the urinary tract and laparoscopic nephrectomy (kidney removal). The audience also had the opportunity to ask questions besides observing the surgical procedures.

Based on positive feedback, the Department of Urology is planning to organise similar international training courses in the future.
