Dr. Renzo Hirayama, Professor of Surgery at Saitama University in Japan, has received the Pro Universitate award at a ceremony held in honour of the occasion.

The award was presented by Rector Ágoston Szél, who recollected that the exchange programme between Semmelweis University and Saitama Medical University commenced ten years ago, and commended Professor Hirayama’s work in support of this cooperation.

Semmelweis University confers its Pro Universitate award upon individuals who have, through years of outstanding activities, contributed to the high-level achievement of the University’s objectives.

As part of the ceremony, medical students Ede Birtalan and László Hidi received the certificates confirming their participation in the Saitama Exchange Programme this past summer. The ceremony ended with a special greeting in honour of Professor Hirayama’s 75th birthday.
