On behalf of the ITDWS OC, I would like to invite you to the International Tropical Diseases Winter School in Mumbai, India between February 11-17, 2018.
 
Tropical diseases are diseases that are prevalent in or unique to tropical and subtropical regions. The diseases are less prevalent in temperate climates that control the insect population by forcing hibernation due to the colder climate. The initial impetus for tropical medicine was to protect the health of colonists, notably in India under the British rule. Human exploration of tropical rainforests, deforestation, rising immigration and increased international air travel and other tourism to tropical regions has led to an increased incidence of such diseases.
 
ITDWS is a seven days program for participants around the world to learn more about these tropical diseases from the knowledge and experience of renowned professionals in the field of Tropical Diseases. The experts will address the causes, contexts, and consequences of various tropical diseases, including the neglected tropical diseases, and the healthcare setting in rural India.


This course is addressed to students and young professionals studying and working in health-related fields to  provide a broad understanding of the theme with a special emphasis on (MDR/XDR) Tuberculosis, HIV, Antibiotic resistance, Neglected tropical diseases, Dengue, Malaria, Radiology in tropical diseases, with practical knowledge supplemented with lectures by experts along with workshops, participant project developments, visit to GLENMARK Pharmaceuticals limited factory to study how the drugs for tropical diseases are produced and current trends in antibiotic resistance, hospital visits, rural health centers visits, Dharavi Slum visit, Challenges in health care services for developing countries and much more.

Early Registration: EU 360 until December 20, 2017, 23:59 IST
Late Registration: EU 387 post December 20, 2017.
