Upper-year students

For upper-year students, dormitory applications are in April / May / June, which also lasts for 15 days in general. In this case, the social/welfare status, the credit-weighted average of the last completed semester, and community activities are taken into account during the scoring. A maximum of 40-40-40 points are available for these, depending on the position in the ranking.

Step 1: Submit your application

  • You can only apply for a place in a dormitory via the Neptun System. You can do this under Administration – Dormitory Application. Here you have to select the dormitories you wish to apply to and then rank them. Then, submit the form and if it is successful, it should appear under the Administration – Applications – Submitted Applications tab.
Be sure to check it, because, without it, your dormitory application is invalid, as if you had not submitted it at all. Once the application has been closed, you will not be able to submit a new application or fill in any missing documents!

Tip: feel free to tick all the dormitories, so that you do not miss out. If you choose only one, then there is a chance that it will be full. But, you will likely have enough points to apply to another dormitory.

Step 2: Determining the Social Score (Social/Welfare Status)

  • To determine your Social score, please send the necessary documents to the hok.applications@semmelweis.hu email address. The subject of the email should be: Dormitory application – NAME – Neptun code. (Example: Dormitory application – John Smith – ABCDE0)

The list of documents that are required to be attached to the application for the social/welfare status are available here: https://semmelweis.hu/hok/files/2020/05/List-of-required-documents.pdf (This is the 1. appendix of AFPR.)

  • It is not compulsory to give information about social/welfare status. If the applicant does not attach the documents required for the determination of their social/welfare status, their application will be considered to be last in line with regard to social/welfare status. This will partially impact their final ranking, hence the minimum of 0 points will be awarded for social/welfare status (out of 40).
  • During the evaluation process, applicants who submit their applications at least 5 days before the deadline will have their applications reviewed by the evaluation preparation team, subject to sufficient review capacity (i.e. not all applicants are eligible and not required), and any incorrect or incomplete applications will be returned for correction. Corrections may be made up to the deadline for applications.

Step 3: Determining the Public Work Score

  • To determine your Public Work score, please send the necessary documents/certificates to hok.dormitory@semmelweis.hu email address. The subject of the e-mail should be: Dormitory application – Public Work Score – NAME – Neptun code. (Example: Dormitory Application – Dormitory Score – John Smith – ABCDE0)

The Community Work for Students scoring system for dormitory placement is available at the top of this page.

  • It is not compulsory to give information about public activities. If the applicant does not attach the documents required for the determination of the Public Work Score, their application will be considered to be last in line with regard to Public Work Score. This will partially impact their final ranking, hence the minimum of 0 points will be awarded for public activities (out of 40).

As soon as the results are available, we will make an information table available on our website. Decisions will be made later.

If, after admission, you wish to be placed in another dormitory, you can swap between yourselves by contacting the Dormitory Sub-Committees.

If you have any questions, please contact the Dormitory Committee by email at hok.dormitory@semmelweis.hu.

If you have any questions about the scoring of social/welfare status, you can contact the Student Welfare Committee by email at hok.applications@semmelweis.hu.

First-year students

Newly admitted students can apply for dormitories in August and the application period usually lasts for 15 days. The social/welfare status and the entrance examination performance are taken into account during the scoring. Candidates are ranked in descending order based on both, and get sub-scores from 0 to 60 based on their place in the rankings. The sum of these is the final score between 0 and 120.

Step 1: Submit your application

  • Students can submit their application via the form available on the site of the Students’ Union.

Step 2: Determining the Social Score (Social/Welfare Status)

  • To determine your Social Score, please send the necessary documents to hok.applications@semmelweis.hu. The subject of the email should be: Dormitory application – NAME – Neptun code. (Example: Dormitory application – John Smith – ABCDE0)

The list of documents that are required to be attached to the application for the social/welfare status are available a few lines above (the 1st appendix of AFPR.)

  • It is not compulsory to give information about social/welfare status. If the applicant does not attach the documents required for the determination of their social/welfare status, their application will be considered to be last in line with regard to social/welfare status. This will partially impact their final ranking, hence the minimum of 0 points will be awarded for social/welfare status (out of 60).

As soon as the results are available, we will make an announcement table available on our website. Decisions will be sent later.

Supplementary waiting list

It is very important for you to check your e-mail every day! This is because the administrators of dormitories will contact you about your accommodation in dormitories in this manner as soon as a space becomes available at the given institution. You will have 24 hours to respond to this notification in order to make entry from the list as smooth and fast as possible.

  • Waiting list:
Students who did not receive enough points to get admitted to one of Semmelweis University’s dormitories will be put on a waiting list, ranked by their number of points. As soon as a space becomes available in a dormitory, the student on the top of the list (provided that they specified that they wanted to get into the dormitory where the space became available) will take said space. We have no influence on the rate at which the waiting list is exhausted, it differs from year to year.
  • Supplementary waiting list:
In the case of certain shortcomings during the application (e.g. the order of dormitories was not submitted), the student will not appear on the dormitory waiting list. In this case, applications to the supplementary waiting list can be made via the hok.dormitory@semmelweis.hu e-mail address. Your name, NEPTUN code, faculty and order of dormitories are needed for the application. The order on the supplementary waiting list is determined by the time the application is made (as opposed to the waiting list, which is based on points). Accommodation in dormitories based on the supplementary waiting list will begin once the waiting list has been entirely exhausted.
Applications to the supplementary waiting list can be made any time at the academic year.
