Semmelweis University appears in several of SanghaiRanking’s most recently released rankings by subjects. Its best position is in the field of clinical medicine, where it ranks between 201 and 300 among the top 500 universities in the world.

In the fields of biological sciences, human biological sciences and pharmaceutical sciences Semmelweis University ranked between 301 and 400 and it is often the only Hungarian institution in the lists. In the field of pharmaceutical sciences the University of Szeged ranked between 401 and 500. In the Central-Eastern European region there was only one university, Charles University in Prague, which received a higher ranking than Semmelweis University.

ShanghaiRanking’s recently released Global Ranking of Academic Subjects contains rankings of universities in 52 subjects. Universities are ranked based on indicators of their publishing activities, which are weighed according to subjects and other factors, such as the number of publications, the number of papers published in top journals, the percentage of publications authored in international collaboration and the number of significant awards in a given academic subject.

The Academic Ranking of World Universities consisting of the best universities in the world includes Eötvös Loránd University and the University of Szeged, ranking between 501 and 600, and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics ranking between 701 and 800.
