Based on the latest Times Higher Education ranking of European universities, Semmelweis University ranked between 251 and 300, thus being the second Hungarian university on the list and its world university rank is between 500 and 600. The list includes seven Hungarian universities.

The Times Higher Education assessed the institutions on their teaching environment, research environment, citations (research influence), industry income and international outlook. Among the Hungarian institutions Semmelweis University ranked second after Central European University, being the only Hungarian universities in the top 300. The other five Hungarian institutions on the list are the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, the University of Debrecen, Eötvös Loránd University, the University of Pécs and the University of Szeged.

The top spot was taken by a UK university, the University of Oxford, followed by the University of Cambridge. The top 10 European universities include UK, Swiss, German and Swedish institutions. The list also reveals that European universities take 40 percent of the places in the list of the world’s 980 best universities.
