Buffalo 2025
The Dent Neurological Institute has entered into an agreement with the four Hungarian medical universities (Semmelweis University, University of Debrecen, University of Pécs, University of Szeged) to provide 8 week credit-bearing senior electives to medical students who are in their 6th year of education (apply for the program during 5th year)
The rotations begin four times a year, approximately in July, September, and December of next year and March of the year following the next. The exact dates will be determined by HMAA (shortly after the interview).
The purpose of the program is to facilitate the exchange of students as well as experience and knowledge between the involved medical universities. With this program the HMAA contributes and provides broad medical knowledge to young Hungarian physicians who are entering the Hungarian health care system.
This program is sponsored and managed by the Hungarian Medical Association of America, HMAA.
Students may take the following electives
- Neurology
- Child Neurology
- Obstetrics and Gynecology
Please note that these electives are subject to availability at the time of the rotation.
Financing
Students are expected to cover:
- Round trip air transportation
- Health insurance
- Medical liability (coordinated by HMAA) is appr. 300 USD for 2 months
- Meal costs (some Buffalo departments provide meal tickets for use in the hospital)
- Students accepted for the program will contribute to their housing in the amount of 550 USD per month (1100 USD total)

Who can apply?
The program is opened to students with the Hungarian heritage of all Hungarian medical schools. Medical students who are in their 6th year of education at the beginning of September 2025.
Only medical students with Hungarian heritage may apply from both the Hungarian and English language programs.
Only HMAA members can apply for the exchange program (membership is free for medical students, for further information visit the HMAA home page).
Students must apply only to one location from the HMAA Exchange Programs! It is not possible to apply for more (Buffalo, Houston).
Deadline: applications must be emailed by March 15th, 2025 midnight (CET).
Applications emailed later than this date will not be accepted.

Houston 2025
The Houston Methodist Hospital has entered into an agreement with all the four Hungarian medical universities (Semmelweis University, University of Debrecen, University of Pécs, University of Szeged) to provide 12 week credit-bearing senior electives to medical students who are in their last year of education (apply for the program during 6th year).
The rotations begin four times a year. The exact dates will be determined by HMAA (shortly after the interview).
The purpose of the Program is to facilitate the exchange of medical students as well as expand the experience and knowledge between the involved medical universities. With this program the HMAA allows students develop improved medical knowledge and establish long term professional relationships, that in turn fosters improved healthcare in Hungary.
This program is sponsored and managed by the Hungarian Medical Association of America, HMAA.
Students may take the following electives
- Vascular Surgery/Surgery
- Anesthesiology/ICU
Please note that these electives are subject to availability at the time of the rotation.
Financing
Students are expected to cover:
- Round trip air transportation
- Health insurance
- Medical liability insurance/Malpractice – Full fee for students: 1000 USD

- Housing

Seoul 2025
Seoul National University and Semmelweis University have entered into a student exchange agreement to provide clinical rotation for
two senior students (after the completion of the 5th year)
Students are expected to cover:
- Round trip air transportaion
- Health insurance
- Medical liability insurance
- Accomodation, living expenses
- Cost of visa
- Cost of general medical examination and vaccines

HEIDELBERGI ÖSZTÖNDÍJ-PÁLYÁZAT EGY FŐ IV. V. VAGY VI. ÉVES ORVOSTANHALLGATÓ VAGY OKTATÓ RÉSZÉRE NYÁRI NYELVTANFOLYAMRA – 2025
A nyelvtanfolyam időpontja: 2025. július 31-től augusztus 27-ig
A nyelvtanfolyam célja orvostanhallgatók és egyetemi oktatók általános nyelvi készségének fejlesztése.
VI. éves hallgatók esetében azok pályázhatnak, akik tanulmányaikat nem a 2024/25-ös tanévben zárják le.
A Heidelbergi Ruprecht Karls Egyetem ösztöndíja magában foglalja a következőket:
– felmentés a tanfolyam díjának megfizetése alól
– 600 € költőpénz, melyből fizetendő a szállás, étkezés, egyéb kiadások
Utasbiztosításról (betegség, baleset, poggyász) valamint felelősségbiztosításról a kiutazónak saját magának kell gondoskodni.
A benyújtott pályázatnak tartalmaznia kell:
- az utolsó két félév kreditigazolását, a kreditindexek kiszámolt számtani átlagának feltüntetésével;
- német vagy angol- és magyar nyelvű motivációs levelet az e-mail cím megadásával;
- tudományos tevékenység összefoglalását magyar nyelven
- oktatók esetében a tanszékvezető támogató levelét

Saitama 2025
A Saitama Egyetem (Moroyama, Japan) és a Semmelweis Egyetem közötti csereszerződés értelmében 2+2 magyar, IV. illetve V. évfolyamos hallgató sebészet témában szakmai gyakorlatot végezhet Japánban.
A gyakorlati idő hétköznap reggel 8:00 órától délután 17:00 óráig tart. A magyar és japán hallgatók a gyakorlat során aktívan közreműködnek a vendég hallgatók szociális és kulturális programjainak szervezésében. (Kirándulásokkal, egyéb programokkal teszik színesebbé magyarországi ill. japán tartózkodásukat.)
A cseregyakorlat célja:
- a szakmai fejlődés elősegítése,
- kölcsönös tapasztalatcsere,
- egymás kultúrájának minél szélesebb körű megismertetése,
- a szakmai és társalgási angol nyelv gyakorlása.
A cseregyakorlat ideje:
2025. július (időtartam: 4 hét) – 2 fő részére vagy
2025. szeptember-október (időtartam 4 hét) – 2 fő részére
A japán hallgatók 2025. augusztus elején (2 fő) ill. 2026. tavaszán (2 fő) érkeznek Magyarországra.
