Health Data Scientist Teaching Postdoc Fellow

Institute of Biostatistics and Network Science

Place of work: 1085 Budapest, Üllői út 26. 

Main tasks and responsibilities of the job:  

The Institute of Biostatistics and Network Science at Semmelweis University is seeking a new colleague. The responsibilities include:

  • Providing methodological support for data-intensive biomedical and health science research projects requiring advanced data science approaches, with particular emphasis on computer vision, natural language processing, predictive analytics, artificial intelligence and network science.
  • Conducting research in the fields of biostatistics, data science and network science using the extensive data resources of Semmelweis University, as well as through independent data collection.
  • Preparing research reports, documentation and manuscripts; contributing to dissemination activities and delivering conference presentations.
  • Actively participating in the development of curricula, course syllabi and teaching materials in the field of health data science.
  • Playing an active role in teaching within newly launched academic programmes.
  • Collaborating with internal and external partners and participating in both in-person and online meetings.

Job requirements: 

  • A PhD degree in a quantitative field (e.g. applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics) and associated research experience
  • Active, professional proficiency in English
  • Advanced knowledge of Python
  • Knowledge of statistical and machine learning methods and experience in their application
  • Interest in health sciences and biomedical research
  • Accurate, precise work ethic
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in parallel
  • Results-oriented mindset

Preferred:

  • Research experience
  • University-level teaching experience
  • Knowledge of and experience with computer vision and natural language processing (NLP)
  • Familiarity with advanced statistical methods (e.g. survival analysis, meta-analysis, epidemiological models, Bayesian statistics) and experience applying them
  • Advanced knowledge of the R programming language
