At the meeting on February 28, 2022, the Assembly of Delegates of the Students’ Union unanimously approved the amendment to the Constitution. Prior to the Senate’s approval, the University’s Directorate-General for Legal Affairs and Administration along with the Directorate-General of Economics, spoke a few sentences, which the Assembly of Delegates approved by electronic vote on March 25, 2022. The final version was ratified by the Senate at its meeting on March 28, 2022.
The modification of our Constitution was preceded by lengthy work, primarily on the part of Secretary Attila Szűcs, whose precision we would like to thank again. The final version was completed in February 2022.
The shifted numbering in the previous version has been adjusted. Contradictions over the delegation and revocation of the Secretary have been ceased. There were elements in the section concerning the Election Officer and the Secretary that were adjusted to the work of the Electoral Committee and the Audit Committee during decision making. As this work is no longer executed by committees of three people, they only have to make a decision instead of organizing meetings and talks.
Several changes have been made to the Electoral Rules. Henceforth, it will be possible to give a notice of appeal electronically. The remaining parts from the former Student Government Subunits have been removed. We have reinstated the regulations for setting the order of support, no further support is required from the Presidium. We have settled the end of the presidential tenure. The elections of the Assembly of Delegates were decoupled from the presidential election. Presidential elections will still be held in the spring, but the elections of the Assembly of Delegates will be conducted in the fall semester. Thus, first-year students will also be familiarized with the elections sooner and will take less of the Assembly of Delegates mandates from the graduating students.
We are pleased to announce that the English translation of the Constitution has reached completion thanks to the Language Institution. As a result, the internationalization efforts launched in the past year (the full communication of the Students’ Union has become bilingual on all media platforms, as well as our events) have achieved another milestone, as more international students may join the work of the Students’ Union in the future since it is possible now for foreign students to get acquainted with our internal regulations.
