Postgraduate courses are available at the Faculty of Dentistry at Semmelweis University, ending with a specialty exam in the following fields:
- Pedodontics
- Orthodontics
- Dentoalveolar Surgery
- Endodontics
- Prosthodontics
If your diploma is issued outside of Hungary, it must be recognized in Hungary, because you can treat patients only with a recognized diploma.
If your diploma is issued from the European Union the National Healthcare Service Center is responsible for the recognition. You can find more information about the recognition procedure via the link below.

If your diploma is issued outside the European Union, the Educational Authority is responsible for the recognition. The recognition procedure may last for up to six months to 1 year, and you may take a differential exam IN HUNGARIAN. You need to obtain permissions of stay and work. “Information on recognizing medical qualifications”
The application for the Further Training Program at Semmelweis University is acceptable only with a recognized diploma.
You can start the program after you obtained all the necessary documents and permissions.
The program includes a practical and a theoretical part. During practice participants can take part in the treatment of patients. This requires some basic knowledge of the Hungarian language, to be able to communicate with patients.
After fulfilling the three-year program, participants have a permission to take the specialty exam in Hungary and have a certificate about it when they passed it successfully.
Participants are advised to collect information before starting the program about the acceptance of the certificate abroad.
