The objective of the call for research projects initiated by young researchers with a total budget of 3 billion forints is to encourage independent scientific activities of researchers under the age of 40. The call was open for basic research projects in any fields of science without thematic priorities to enable young researchers to initiate an independent research project in their own research group.
Contrary to expectations, a total number of 326 project proposals were submitted with a funding request of 9 billion forints. Therefore, the National Research, Development and Innovation Office initiated to raise the budget, which provided funding to 108 research projects.
