We are pleased to inform you that the Dean of the Faculty has approved the call for Teaching Assistant applications for the Academic Year 2024/25 (from September for 10 months, with 20 hours per month) at the Institute of Languages for Specific Purposes.
If you are interested in the world of languages, this is your opportunity to apply as a Teaching Assistant. You can apply for the following positions:
- Teaching assistant in English courses for specific purposes (3rd year).
Teaching Assistants at the Institute of Languages for Specific Purposes undertake various exciting tasks, including:
English language courses:
- Assisting language instructors in preparing language sessions and research activities.
- Collecting and organizing authentic language materials (videos and audio recordings)
- Compiling thematic glossaries.
- Creating profession-specific scenarios in Hungarian and English.
- Designing interactive professional tasks (online and offline).
- Acting as simulated patients to assist language instructors in authentic simulation of language situations
Hungarian language courses:
- Compiling thematic vocabulary lists
- Practicing dialogues
- Creating profession-specific situations
- Creating an authentic professional environment (for 3rd year: optometrist, nurse, physiotherapist) by acting as simulated patients or as students in a specific field, assisting language instructors in authentic simulation of language situations
- Developing interactive professional tasks
- Participating in oral presentations made by foreign students at the end of the semester
Expectations from Teaching Assistants at the Institute of Languages for Specific Purposes:
- You should be at least a third-year student.
- In the previous two semesters, you should have achieved a good academic average (GPA of 3.51 or above).
- For Hungarian and foreign language teaching, you should be a native speaker or have advanced proficiency in the respective language. Participation and excellent grades are an advantage.
- Your behavior should be exemplary, and you should enjoy an active and vibrant community life.

Required documents for a valid application:
- Completed and signed Teaching Assistant application form (available for download from the Faculty website).
- A motivation letter of half to a maximum of one page.
The topic of the motivation letter should revolve around your experience with the language for specific purposes (e.g., professional practice, voluntary work, partial education abroad, Profex language exam, etc.), as well as the reasons for applying to be a Teaching Assistant.
Personal interviews with the Teaching Assistant candidates will be conducted in early July. The exact date and time will be communicated via email. The suitability assessment will be carried out by the teachers of the Institute of Languages for Specific Purposes, and the decision will be emailed to the applicants no later than mid-July.
The final decision regarding the position rests with the Dean of the Faculty. The application process results will be announced no later than early September.
