We are pleased to inform you that, according to the decision of the Dean of Faculty the Dentistry at Semmelweis University, the Department of Languages for Specific Purposes invites applications for the post of Demonstrator / Teaching Assistant (TA) scholarships at our Institute, for the Academic year 2019/20. We can offer 6 Demonstrator / TA scholarships for the languages for dental medical purposes that are taught at our Department (English, French, German, Italian, Russian or Spanish).

Tasks of the demonstrator/TA at the Directorate for Languages:

(a) assisting language instructors in preparing for the language courses for dental medical purposes (e.g. collecting and systematising authentic language materials, editing online thematic glossaries);

(b) participating in the preparation of midterms, written and oral examinations and the supervision of written examinations;

(c) assisting language instructors during classes, primarily in the authentic simulation of situations, where languages for dental medical purposes are to be used.

The ideal demonstrator/TA candidate for the Directorate for Languages is a student in the 3rd year who

  1. a) has a general study average of at least 3.51 in the previous academic year (2018/19);
  2. b) is a native speaker or at least has a C1 language examination in one of the following languages: English, French, German, Italian, Russian or Spanish;
  3. c) is familiar with the language for dental medical purposes.

The deadline for the application is 24th September 2019. Applications can be submitted at the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Dentistry.

For a successful application you need the following data in your application must be submitted:

  • personal data (name, Neptun-code, current year of study, place and date of birth, maiden name of the mother, Address, phone number, e-mail)
  • general average of grades in the previous 2 semesters (2018/19)

For a successful application you also have to submit a letter of acceptance by the Director of the Department of Languages for Specific Purposes. The letter is going to be handed out after the interview. The most prospective candidates are going to be invited to a personal interview, which is to be held on 23rd or 24th September.

The assessment of suitability is carried out by the language instructors of our Department.

The final decision will be made by the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry in late September, after consultation with the Students’ Union.
