Our department, as an academic institute has both teaching and research activities. The former includes teaching of basic and clinical pharmacology for 4th year Hungarian, English and German medical and dental students, as well as for PhD students (in the frame of doctoral programs) and for medical doctors (in the clinical pharmacology training). Moreover, we organize domestic and international postgraduate courses in drug development.
Besides the educational activity there is a wide-scale, internationally recognized research in our department. Our scientific work focuses on various fields of pharmacology, including cardiovascular, behavioral pharmacological, bioinformatics and gastrointestinal experiments, applying in vivo, ex vivo and in vitro methodologies. The international level of our research is well demonstrated by the discovery of deprenyl, which is marketed in more than 60 countries.
