Every year, our Department opens its doors and warmly welcomes all visitors as part of the Researchers’ Night event series. Around 20 people attended this year’s program, mostly enthusiastic high school students and young university undergraduates, who engaged actively with insightful questions and showed great interest in our research areas.
At this year’s event, titled “Hearts, Tumors, Drugs – Life-Saving in the Spotlight”, our staff members presented the diversity of pharmaceutical research through short lectures. Participants learned about the application of small animal ultrasound, histological examinations used in cardiology research, the analysis of cardiomyocyte viability, and how cardiovascular and oncological diseases can be studied in cell culture models directly in a culture dish. In addition, they gained insight into the theoretical network concepts shaping the future of medicine and drug discovery.

Following the lectures, visitors had the opportunity to get a closer look at our laboratory methods and equipment through hands-on practical sessions. Among other activities, they observed a small animal ultrasound system in operation, prepared tissue sections in our histology laboratory, solved exciting puzzles in our cell culture lab to save harmless cells from impending threats, and took a look inside cells using a confocal microscope.
We would like to thank all participants for their active involvement! For those who could not join us this time, we look forward to welcoming you to next year’s Researchers’ Night. You can also follow our work and upcoming events on our website and social media platforms.
